All Members, Winter Residents, Family and Friends,

Greetings on this Tuesday evening!  I trust that everyone is doing well.  While it has gotten cool in the northern states it was still in the high 80’s today with feels like temperatures in the low 90’s.  It would be nice to see some high 70’s or low 80’s for a few weeks.  But it is better that snow storms, I suppose.

Here we are already in November with Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas and the New Year just literally weeks away.  Lets make these final weeks in 2019 count.  We have some exciting things coming down the road.  We have service opportunities and fun things to do in the coming weeks and months.  So I trust that you have read your newsletter I sent out last week but below are some simple reminders of things happening some you know about others are new.

Rev. James Olckers will be Preaching on November 17th, 2019 here at Trinity.  I will be doing the liturgy.  Just to break things up a little.  That following week Rev. Olckers will be traveling back to South Africa to see his family, especially his aging uncle.

The first Pot Luck Luncheon that I may have mention for Sunday November 17th following church has been postponed to the third Sunday in December.

The new date is December 15th.  So plan what festive dish you can bring for a pot luck luncheon.

This Friday, November 8th, at 2:00PM Linda and Julie will be once again packing “Samaritan Purse Shoeboxes” for children around the world.

Come and help them pack these boxes.

Next Monday, November 11th, Veterans Day the church Council will be meeting at 6:00PM.

On Thanksgiving Day at 12 NOON there will be a free Thanksgiving Dinner for anyone who wants to attend in the Trinity Life Center!  It is a opportunity for many of you who do not have family in the area to share a good meal with some great friends.  Please sign up in the hallway outside the office.

The Holy Land Experience, Orlando bus trip is coming up on Thursday, Dec. 5.  The cost of the ticket is $50 which includes the bus and park entrance fees.  As long as there is room, you may invite your friends from your neighborhoods.  We would like to fill up the bus.  There are about 27 seats left.  Tickets need to be paid for by November 18th.

Here is something new!!!  The Green Dragon Food Pantry container is by the front door of the church.  Let’s make the 1st Sunday of each month “Green Dragon Food” Sunday.  We have been asked if our church could help supply food to the Lake Placid Middle School pantry which gives food to less fortunate students on the weekends.  Just bring in an item from the suggestion list below.  Anything that comes in by next Sunday will be taken to the school before Thanksgiving.  And then we’ll start again with the 1st Sunday in December:

Pop Tarts, Applesauce or fruit Snack cups, microwavable Mac ‘n cheese/Raviolis/ Spaghetti & meatballs/Chili, Uncle Ben’s Microwavable rice packets, Granola bars, Cereal, snack cracker packets, —all KID FRIENDLY ITEMS!

We had great attendance in Sunday Bible Study this past week.  We are working our way slowly through the book of Revelation.  It is a very challenging study, but it is a good one.  So why not come to church early at 8:30AM, enjoy some coffee and fellowship at 9:15AM and get the right seat for worship.  You will not regret it.

I am working my way slowly through Luther’s Small Catechism.  This week we focus in on an “Old Friend” the Apostle’s Creed.  My sermon for Sunday is attached.  I have intentionally included the Apostle’s Creed and explanation from Luther’s Large Catechism because it gives such a great explanation.

Please have a great week.  Share this information with some friends and invite a friend to come with you to church or one of the other activities here at Trinity.  People say that they would go to a church is a friend invited them.  Why not invite your friends to come to Trinity!
