Subject: A Few Reminders

All Members, Winter Residents, Family and Friends,

Greetings on this Tuesday morning June 25, 2024! To our friends in the north I pray that you are staying cool and hydrating well to avoid any nasty stuff the extreme heat can cause in our bodies.

I am writing this to remind everyone that I cannot pray on Sunday morning for you if YOU or a loved one do not let us know what is going on in your life.  We are not contacted like years ago by the hospital when you are hospitalized like they used to because of “hippa” laws.  So if you want us to pray for you please let us know.  Thank you!

Several of our members are battle cancer or other serious issues in their lives.

Sandy Rybacki is dealing with kidney issues and was hospitalized last week and is going back in on Friday for more surgery.

Mark Goodrich is wrapping up his treatment for cancer in the near future.

Valerie Baker has been battle cancer as well and hopefully is getting stronger following her treatments.

Rick and Deb Gregory are very faithful winter residents and Rick has been fighting tongue cancer.  Deb wrote yesterday; “Rick has completed 6 radiation treatments and one chemo. He was given a feeding tube because the doctors fear that his throat will get very sore, but he hasn’t needed to use it yet.  He also has a port. He has a very positive attitude. God will see us through this.”

Pam Bardon is facing several medical issues but remains strong.

Pam Bradshaw continue to face health issue as a “long hauler” following Covid and will be having surgery later in July.

Susan Norris will be having right knee replacement on July 18th, 2024.

Please remember all these people in your prayers and if you can drop them a card telling them that you are thinking of them.  All of these people I mentioned should have their local mailing address in our directory.

For the month of July we will be collecting “cereal”, instant oat meal and individual variety packs of cereal or LARGE boxes of cereal.  Whatever kind you may wish to purchase for Manna Ministries.  Just put the item you purchase in one of the containers in the narthex.  Thanks!

There will be a Men’s Breakfast this Saturday June 29th, 2024 at 8:00AM at Oscar’s in Placid Lakes!  All men are welcomed!

Yesterday I posed this idea to everyone and got ONE return.  Certainly more than just one person reads my emails, right?  I want to start a simply “reading book club”.  This would be an opportunity for people to come together and discuss something that we all read in the week previous to coming to the group/club.  This would not be a teacher/student style, but rather we all would need to contribute our thoughts concerning what we read and how it might apply to our lives or spiritual journey.  While on our cruise I read through a series of 5 devotional thought provoking 30-page booklets.  The topics are Identity, finding myself in God; God, Discovering the Divine; Love, Experiencing deep connections; Suffering, Transforming our pain; and Freedom, finding peace in anxious times.  Each booklet has 5 chapters, and we could discuss on or two chapters each week.  This would be offered on a weekday morning maybe at 10AM or 11AM.

Would there be any interest in doing this?  I really need your feedback.  So please take some time and answer me.  This could be a group that can easily be added to each week as Winter Residents return, or people return from vacations.  Please let me know if I should pursue this.  Thank you!

Have a great week!
